What is the CITS Entrance Exam?
The CITS (Craft Instructor Training Scheme) is conducted by the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. Passing the entrance qualifies candidates for the 1-year instructor training programme to teach in government ITIs across India.

NTC / NAC / Diploma / Degree from a recognized Board of Technical Education / University or equivalent.

Who is eligible for CITS Entrance Exam?
Candidates must hold an NTC / NAC / Diploma / Degree from a recognized Board or University. SCVT candidates are eligible. CoE candidates are not eligible. Minimum age is 18 years; there is no upper age limit. Provisional admission is allowed for appearing candidates as per DGT order dated 17.04.2025.
What is the CITS Entrance Exam fee?
The entrance exam fee is ₹300 for General candidates and ₹200 for SC / ST / PH / EWS / Women candidates. Additionally, a non-refundable Counselling Fee of ₹500 is applicable for all candidates. Payment is accepted online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, Wallet, or UPI.
What is the AICET exam pattern for CITS?
The AICET is an online CBT exam of 100 marks in 2 hours. It has two sections: 75% Trade Theory based on CTS syllabus of the applied trade, and 25% Aptitude (Logical, Numeric, Reasoning). All questions are MCQ with equal marks of 1 each.
What is RODA in the CITS Entrance Exam?
RODA — Reading of Drawing and Arithmetic — is the subject for engineering trades in the CITS entrance exam. It tests candidates on engineering blueprint reading and basic arithmetic calculations related to trade instruction.
Are CoE (Centre of Excellence) candidates eligible for CITS?
No. As per DGT guidelines, CoE (Centre of Excellence) candidates are not eligible to apply for the CITS programme. Only NTC / NAC / Diploma / Degree holders from recognized institutions (including SCVT) are eligible.
