🆕 3 Major Changes — Complete Details

Change 1 — "Promoted with Back" Result Status

NEW STATUS

From admission year 2025 onwards, ITI students who fail in the first year of a 2-year trade during Mains examination will no longer see "Fail" on their marksheet. Instead, they will see a new status: "Promoted with Back".

❌ Before 2025 (Old Status)

1st year student fails in Mains exam of a 2-year trade → Marksheet shows "FAIL"

✅ From 2025 (New Status)

1st year student fails in Mains exam of a 2-year trade → Marksheet shows "PROMOTED WITH BACK"

⚠ Important — Exact Conditions Where This Applies: ● Only for Mains examination results  |  ● Only for 1st year trainees of 2-year duration trades  |  ● Visible on e-Marksheet AND SIDH portal screen

Where it does NOT apply: Supplementary examinations still show Pass / Fail as before. 1-year trades are not affected.
💡 What "Promoted with Back" means for students: The student is promoted to the 2nd year of their trade — but they carry the failed subject as a "backlog". They must clear this backlog subject in supplementary exam or during the 2nd year examination cycle. This is similar to "ATKT" (Allowed to Keep Terms) in diploma/degree courses.
🎓

Change 2 — Revised e-NTC Format with APAAR ID

NEW CERTIFICATE

The CTS e-NTC (electronic National Trade Certificate) will be issued in a completely revised format from admission year 2025 onwards. The new certificate includes two major additions.

📌

APAAR ID on Certificate

The trainee's APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) ID will now be printed on the e-NTC certificate. This is the national academic identity linked to DigiLocker.

🌟

Total Credits Earned

The total credits earned by the trainee during the course will be displayed on the certificate and transferred to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) linked with APAAR ID.

❓ What is APAAR ID? APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It is a unique 12-digit academic identity number for every student in India (similar to Aadhaar for education). It is linked to DigiLocker and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). ITI trainees admitted from 2025 must have their APAAR ID registered at their ITI for it to appear on their certificate.
📚 What is Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)? ABC is a national digital repository where academic credits earned by students from various institutions are stored. Credits from your ITI course will now be stored in ABC via APAAR ID, allowing them to be recognized and transferred if you pursue further education (diploma, degree lateral entry etc.).
📄

Change 3 — Revised e-Marksheet with OJT / Project Work Grade

NEW FORMAT

The CTS e-Marksheet for both 1-year and 2-year trades will now include OJT (On-the-Job Training) or Project Work grades in a revised format from admission year 2025 onwards.

📌 Timeline: When will OJT grades appear on marksheet? OJT grade recording by ITIs on the SIDH portal will be enabled tentatively during CTS Mains Examination in July 2026 for the 2025 admission batch.

OJT / Project Work Grading System:

A1
90% and above
Exemplary
A
75% to 89%
Very Good
B
60% to 74%
Good
C
Below 60%
Satisfactory

OJT grade is awarded based on evaluation by Industry Mentor (50% weightage) and External Examiner (50% weightage). Industry mentor evaluates on 5 criteria: Punctuality, Log Book maintenance, Problem analysis, Tool usage, Safety adherence — each 10 marks = 50 total. External examiner conducts viva voice during practical exam.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is "Promoted with Back" in ITI result 2025?
From admission year 2025 onwards, ITI 1st year students who fail in Mains exam of a 2-year trade will get "Promoted with Back" status on their marksheet instead of "Fail". This means they are promoted to 2nd year but must clear the failed subject as a backlog. This applies only to Mains exam — supplementary exams still show Pass/Fail.
What is APAAR ID and why is it on ITI certificate?
APAAR = Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It is a unique 12-digit academic ID for every student linked to DigiLocker. From 2025, the new e-NTC will include your APAAR ID and total credits earned. Credits will be stored in the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) — useful for lateral entry to diploma/degree programs and credit transfer between institutions.
What is new in ITI e-Marksheet from 2025 admission year?
The revised ITI e-Marksheet from 2025 will include: (1) OJT / Project Work grades (A1/A/B/C) in addition to regular exam marks. (2) Applies to both 1-year and 2-year CTS trades. (3) OJT grade recording on SIDH portal will be enabled tentatively during CTS Mains Examination July 2026.
What are OJT grades on ITI marksheet?
OJT grading: A1 (90%+) = Exemplary • A (75-89%) = Very Good • B (60-74%) = Good • C (below 60%) = Satisfactory. Grade is based on Industry Mentor evaluation (50%) + External Examiner viva (50%). Evaluation criteria: Punctuality, Logbook, Problem analysis, Tool usage, Safety adherence.
Does "Promoted with Back" apply to 1-year ITI trades?
No. "Promoted with Back" applies only to 2-year duration CTS trades — and only for 1st year Mains examination results. It does not apply to 1-year trades, 2nd year students, or supplementary examinations. For all other cases, the existing Pass/Fail status continues.
What is OJT in ITI and is it mandatory?
OJT (On-the-Job Training) is mandatory 150-hour industry training per year for all CTS ITI trainees in 1-year and 2-year trades. Trainees work at actual industry/workplace, maintain a weekly logbook, and are evaluated by industry mentor. Where OJT is not possible, a trade-relevant Project Work of 150 hours is the alternative. OJT grade appears on the new marksheet from 2025 admission batch.
